Day Five: Lancome Definicils

It is here! Day Five! Whoo hoo!

Day Five: Lancome Definicils. I HAVE used this before, as a sample from a department store. That sample size was much smaller than this one and lasted about a month, but not as my every day mascara. I usually used it over my daytime mascara before going out at night, and I'm sure you can see why.

Picture with flash

Picture without flash

With the flash on, this mascara is too Kardashian for me. However, when just looking in a mirror or in a picture without the flash I think it looks amazing. Maybe this is because it's a "High Definition" mascara? The color out of the bottle is a blue-black, which was different than the other bottles. They were all black-black. As a blonde, blue-black can be too extreme for daytime.

These pictures make me realize how much I like my right eye better than my left! My lashes, eyebrows, and lids are just better in general on the right. Thank goodness for side bangs...

Follow-up on Day Four:

The Korres mascara lasted well throughout the day, and didn't flake or crunch. It felt very light and washed off easily.

Concluding Trial Sizes!

Day five concludes my little trial run of this sample pack. Seriously, this was one of the best makeup finds of my life! All credit goes to my beautiful and amazing friend Kat for suggesting I purchase this and blog about it. I welcome ALL comments, suggestions, and feedback, but especially any that will help me make my mascara decision!

Also, if any of you find any other sample kits or ideas for a similar blog you would like for me to do, definitely let me know. This has been so much fun, and I look forward to posting my full-sized mascara choice when the time comes!

Day Four: Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara by Korres

Day Four: Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara by Korres. I WANT to love this mascara because of the volcanic minerals. How cool is that? This is also a Greek brand, and since Kat is Greek I have an affinity for everything Greek.

Korres goes on pretty well, seems wet but dries pretty quickly. It has a regular-bristled brush, and only got a little bit on my eyelids. Now that it is all dry, my lashes feel soft and light which is awesome. Usually lighter mascaras keep the curl a little better.

For follow-up on the last three mascaras, they all lasted well throughout the day. No flaking, clumping, or burning my eyes when washing it off. Basically, they aren't making my decision any easier. I really like all of them, and I'm happy these samples are a decent size so I'll have them ALL for a while!

By Popular Demand: A Before and After Comparison

I've had a couple people ask me for a before and after comparison, which I can't believe I didn't think of! What a noob! So, here is what my naked eye looks like:

I wasn't kidding when I said I have blonde eyelashes!

Since today is Day Four, I took a picture of my eye in a similar angle with my Day Four mascara, which I will post about next:
Quite different, yes?

This is why mascara is my #1 must-have makeup. Even if I can't do my eyebrows or have my BB cream, I feel ok as long as I have mascara.

I hope this helps show how well these mascaras all work!

For my eye shadow in all of these posts I've been using the Urban Decay Naked Pallet. This is seriously the best pallet I've ever used. I used Kat's once and was obsessed. I finally bought my own during this last Sephora trip and it is worth every cent! No matter what your skin tone is, this pallet is amazing. For example, Kat is Greek, and has olive-toned skin. I am basically albino, and have pink undertones. We both swear by this pallet. It comes with 12 eye shadows, a brush, and an eye shadow primer sample.

Day Three- Buxom Lash by Bare Escentuals

Day Three is Buxom Lash by Bare Escentuals. This brush is also very big, and instead of the normal brush bristles is has those spiky ones like the CoverGirl Lash Blast has. Even with the big brush, I was able to get the smaller corner lashes pretty easily without making a big mess on my eyelids.

I did get one clump which I didn't notice until I was taking the picture, but that could be because I forgot to remove my eye makeup last night. I need to get better at that.

This mascara feels very light and flexible. I also feel like it might be a little darker, but I also just did my eye shadow a little darker today. Buxom didn't seem to separate my lashes as well as the other two, but I could also be having a bad eyelash day. I'm having a bad hair day too so that would make sense!

So far though based on first impressions, I don't think this one will be my favorite.

Day Two- Lights, Camera, Lashes! by Tarte

Day Two I used Lights, Camera, Lashes! by Tarte. My first thought was that it goes on a lot wetter than the Bad Gal Lash one I used yesterday. It takes a couple more brushes to fully coat my lashes, but I love the length and fullness. This mascara dries quickly and doesn't feel crunchy or like it will slowly flake away throughout the day (which is the WORST).

I can already tell that this will be a difficult decision after Day 5!

Day One- Bad Gal Lash from Benefit

Ignore my startled expression. It's not easy taking close-up pictures of your own eye while trying to get the mascara bottle in focus too, even with the amazing technology of the iPhone 5.

This is Bad Gal Lash from the brand Benefit. The brush is HUGE. Definitely bigger than any other brush in the package. (I had to open each one to look at them when we got back to Kat's apartment, the suspense was killing us!) I really like how dry it feels right away. At first I wasn't sure there was even anything on this giant brush. However, since my eyelashes are blonde it is easy to tell that yes, there indeed is mascara on that brush.

So far this is my favorite.

A Journey of Mascara

Yesterday my good friend Kat and I went shopping. Of course we had to stop at Sephora. If you are not familiar with Sephora, let me explain what it is: a giant store filled with a zillion different makeups from well-known and boutique brands in pretty much any color, texture, style, and price range. It is a girl's dream come true, and a nightmare for her wallet.

I usually avoid going in out of fear I will suddenly believe I need that sheer coral lip stick, shimmery eggplant eyeliner, new HD face primer, and all the other beautifully packaged cosmetics calling my name. However, Kat needed a new lipstick. It was her birthday after all, so I agreed to check it out and help her find the perfect lipstick.

But this blog isn't about Kat's perfect lipstick.

It's about this fantastic package I found- Lash Stash To Go. This little package has five of Sephora's favorite mascaras in sample sizes for only $25. Even better, it has a voucher that you can bring into the store for a full-sized tube of your favorite one out of the five. Kat suggested I post pictures of each brand and let you ladies (and gentlemen?) help me pick the best one.

This is the outside of the box.
